Embedding small objects in resin.Embedding resin comprises polyester dissolved in styrene (phenylethene). The styrene is made to polymerise (harden) by the addition of a catalyst (hardener), commonly MEK (methyl ethyl ketone or butanone) but sometimes benzoyl peroxide (dibenzoyl peroxide). It sets in 10 to 30 minutes. All mixing vessels, etc, are disposable and are not cleaned with solvents.
