The production of a one-piece component from molten metal poured into the cavity of a mould which may be of sand, steel, plaster or cuttlefish ‘bone’ and the use of low-melting point metals.
The creation of a joint using a filler of similar composition to the metal being joined gives rise to fumes from the electrode coatings, metallic oxides, any paint or surface contaminant and possibly to ozone and nitrogen oxides.
