This guide is intended to offer guidance to those providing induction programmes for new teachers of D&T, food and Art, or for those supervising such programmes.

This guide identifies the areas that should be considered prior to embarking on practical work in a general teaching room, rather than a workshop, food room or art studio.

Visits to art galleries, museums, exhibitions, studios of professional artists and similar locations. Visits off the school site in order to create works of art in a different environment.

This course is designed for teachers and technicians working the Art & Design area. The course
takes place in a school Art and Design department and involves a mixture of presenter input and
practical exercises.
